[AD] The Mountain Can Wait by Sarah Leipciger

The Mountain Can Wait is a stunning debut novel by Sarah Leipciger. Set in British Columbia it is the story of relationship between a father and his son. Please note Tinder Press sent me a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

THE MOUNTAIN CAN WAIT

Tom Berry has always been a loner, a man content to live out his days in the wilderness with just enough ammunition and kerosene to last out the winter. A single father, he has raised his children with the same quiet and absolute dedication he brings to his forestry business, but now he’s discovering that might not have been enough.

When his son, Curtis, disappears after a tragic accident, it falls to Tom, the hunter, to track him down. Whether he can truly reach Curtis is another matter.

MY THOUGHTS

I really enjoyed The Mountain Can Wait. Sarah Leipciger did a fantastic job of telling this haunting story. Most of the book takes place around British Columbia and the imagery is so fantastic that you feel like you are there in the mountains with Tom.

Its the sort of book where you want to take your time reading it to really enjoy the story. Not much happens in this, its really just the story of one ordinary man dealing with the things life throws his way.

I’m going to say it again, I really enjoyed this book. It was very realistic though a little depressing at times. My only problem with The Mountain Can Wait was the last few chapters. The book was fantastic but it almost felt like the author gave up at the end. I’m not saying the final chapters were bad, they were just not as good as the rest of the book.
