Troublemaker Fountain Pen Inks | Test & Review

I love finding new inks to try with my calligraphy and recently I came across Troublemaker. A small brand which specialiises in fountain pen inks. These inks come in some lovely vibrant colours and they also make what I would refer to as “special” inks. These combine multiple pigments to create an iridescent effect on the paper. As I said, these inks are formulated specifically for fountain pens. However, I mostly use dip pens which usually require slightly thicker ink. Despite saying that, I’ve fallen in love with these inks and want to share my thoughts. About Troublemaker Inks Troublemaker (also known as TMKR) is a small studio, hand-making fountain…

    Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel Mechanical Pencil Review

I am a fan of mechanical pencils, sounds like a silly thing to say but it’s true. As a calligrapher, I spend most of my time creating art on paper. But that doesn’t mean I spend all my time writing with a dip pen. I admire the people who can create beautiful calligraphy straight out of the pen. But most of the projects I work on require a series of drafts before I begin the final artwork. I don’t do these drafts in ink because it would take far too long, and this is where the mechanical pencil comes in.  I’ve talked in the past that I’m not fussy when…

Are Muji Pens Overrated? A Gel Pen Comparison

I haven’t properly been in the blogosphere for a while. One of the interesting things which happened during my time away was how the stationery/ studyblr community collectively moved away from the Muji gel pens as a ‘must-have’ stationery item. The funny thing is that my personal opinion on the Muji pens hasn’t changed all that much. So today I want to do a gel pen comparison with a few other brands to see just how good the Muji gel pens are.  Are Muji Pens Overrated? A Gel Pen Comparison The Problem With Muji Gel Pens I’ve mentioned the Muji pens a few times in the past and I’ve always…

My Favourite Brush Pens For Bullet Journaling

When I’m not writing about notebooks I spend my time working as a graphic designer. Over the last few years, I have specialised a little more and now most of the work I do is lettering and calligraphy. These are two skills that take a lot of practice, one of the ways I practice is by decorating my bullet journal with small pieces of lettering. Incidentally, if you want to see more of my lettering work you can head over to my design Instagram.  Choosing the right pen for brush lettering is a personal thing. It depends on the type of lettering you do. A pen like the Tombow Dual…

Tombow Fudenosuke | Brush Pen Review

I love using brush pens in my bullet journal. In the past, I’ve reviewed several different types of brush pen. Today I want to talk about the Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen. Out of everything I’ve mentioned on my blog so far, this is probably one of my favourite types of brush pen.  I know in the past I’ve been very critical of the Tombow Dual Brush Pens. As much as I love them I’ve always found the large brush nib to be very difficult to handle when lettering. I find the Fudenosuke pen much preferable because of the smaller nib.  I bought my first pen in a random art shop…
