My Favourite Art Books For Beginners
I own a lot of art books, like seriously too many. Just the other day I bought a job lot of calligraphy books on eBay. It was cheaper than buying them individually, don’t judge me. You might be surprised considering I’m at art school but I didn’t do art during high school. A lot of what I learned came from books and you can do the same. So today I want to recommend 5 art books for beginners. I will say right now that these choices are very much based on my personal preferences and the type of art I like. Book Review | Noumenon by Marina J. Lostetter
Noumenon is a new science fiction book written by Marina J. Lostetter. With nods to Rama by Arthur C Clarke, it is about a fleet of generational ships, manned by clones, travelling to a far-off star. SUMMARY Astrophysicist Reggie Straifer has an idea. He’s discovered an anomalous star that appears to defy the laws of physics and proposes the creation of a deep-space mission to find out whether the star is a weird natural phenomenon or something manufactured. The journey will take aeons. In order to maintain the genetic talent of the original crew, humankind’s greatest ambition—to explore the furthest reaches of the galaxy—is undertaken by clones. But a clone…

Record Of A Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers
Record of A Spaceborn Few is the third part of the Wayfarers series by Becky Chambers. All books in this series are set in the same shared universe, meaning you can read the books in any order you wish. This series is a fantastic speculative science-fiction series set in a Star Trek-like universe where humans are not the powerful force in the universe. RECORD OF A SPACEBORN FEW SUMMARY Centuries after the last humans left Earth, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, a place many are from but few outsiders have seen. Humanity has finally been accepted into the galactic community, but while this has opened doors for many,…

Book Review | Artemis by Andy Weir
I was a bit afraid before starting Artemis if I’m totally honest. The Martian is one of my all time favourite books and I was worried that my love for that book would spoil this one. In that I would get so hyped I would be disappointed when the time came around to actually reading it because it didn’t live up to my expectations. This is a legitimate problem I have faced a number of times in the past, fortunately in this case it didn’t happen. THE PLOT I think the best way to describe Artemis is it’s a heist story. Artemis is an established base on the Moon. Our main…

How To Get Rid of Books
You may have noticed I own quite a lot of books. Around this time every year I go through everything I own and clear out the ones I don’t want. I do this mostly because I have limited space and there is no point keeping something just for it to sit on a shelf. So today I am going to share my process for purging books. CHOOSING WHAT BOOKS TO GET RID OF The first thing I do is just look at my shelves. It may seem pointless to mention it but this is what I do. I go through each shelf and pick out the books I’ve read and…
