I Designed A Video Game Cover

I am so far behind with posting about my design projects at college. I think I have another 3 to write about. Anyway I thought today I would talk a little about the biggest project we have done so far. The brief was to create the cover and disk art for a video game. This project wasn’t about redesigning an existing game cover so we also had to come up with an idea for a game and it’s name. I’m also doing a presentation on this project next week so thats going to be fun. I DESIGNED A VIDEO GAME COVER I started out by researching video games. I had…

    A Shelf Portrait

Today I’m going to share the first proper project we have had in class. This was to create a frontispiece which would be the first page of our portfolio (frontispiece meaning literally ‘first page’). This frontispiece had to contain a number of things, it needed our name, the name of the course, it had to include a self portrait and it had to be a representation of our selves. Basically it had to show the things we like. So I’m going to show you my thought processes from initial brief right through to the final piece. MY DESIGN PROCESS I started with a mind map to figure out the things…

A Look Inside My Blogging Notebook

Way back on my blogging essentials post I mentioned I have a notebook in which I take notes, write blog posts, make lists and plan out my posting schedule. Well I thought since this notebook is nearly full I would show you guys how I use my notebook. MY BLOGGING NOTEBOOK This is an A5 flexi journal from Paperchase and I really love it, my only problem is its a bit more beat up than what I would expect for something that has lived on my desk for over a year. This is especially annoying since it’s not what I would consider a “cheap” notebook. On the inside cover I store…

How To Make A Mini Photo Album

A few weeks ago on my 4 Ideas For Instagram Photos post I promised to do a full tutorial for the mini photo album and here it is! One thing you should note is that I designed this book to be the right size for the photos I had (which was 2.5 inch square). If you have photos at a different size you can easily change the book to fit your photos or print your photos off in a size that will fit this book. HOW TO MAKE A MINI PHOTO ALBUM You will need: You will also need a ruler, a pencil and an x-acto knife. Somehow I managed to forget…

    4 Ideas For Instagram Photos

A few months ago I decided to get some of my instagram photos printed out. I really like having physical copies of my photos rather than just looking at them on a screen. However I also don’t want to just leave these photos lying in a box. So here are some ideas I came up with for fun things to do with the prints. BOOKMARKS I’ve only just recently got into the habit of using a bookmark rather than dog-earing the page. However I really don’t have any proper ‘bookmarks’ and usually just use train tickets or leaflets or sweetie wrappers. Anything I have to hand basically. Which now includes my box…
