A Quiet January Vlog & Organising The Studio 🖍️ Studio Diary #6

A Quiet January I’ve had a very quiet start to the year. It’s been nice having a bit of a rest because I was very busy in the run-up to Christmas. I’ve been using the free time to work in my commonplace book a little more. I’ve always been fascinated with patterns and came across a book about pattern design on archive.org. The particular book I’m reading at the moment is called Pattern Design by Lewis Day. It takes the time to explain the elements which make up a pattern and what you need to do to create a repeating design. I’ve come to love these old “how-to” style books. Somehow…

5 Hand Lettering Styles For Your Bullet Journal

Today I want to share some hand lettering styles to use in your bullet journal. I love decorating my bullet journal with hand lettering. How To Improve Your Handwriting

My Instagram bio says that I am a graphic designer with nice handwriting. It says this because I think it’s a fun way of telling the internet I do calligraphy. There is a pretty good chance you feel the same way about your handwriting. So today I want to share some of the reasons behind why we think this way and also some small tips which could help you improve your handwriting.  I should probably add that I am not an expert when…

My Favourite Brush Pens For Bullet Journaling

When I’m not writing about notebooks I spend my time working as a graphic designer. Over the last few years, I have specialised a little more and now most of the work I do is lettering and calligraphy. These are two skills that take a lot of practice, one of the ways I practice is by decorating my bullet journal with small pieces of lettering. Incidentally, if you want to see more of my lettering work you can head over to my design Instagram.  Choosing the right pen for brush lettering is a personal thing. It depends on the type of lettering you do. A pen like the Tombow Dual…

My Favourite Art Books For Beginners

I own a lot of art books, like seriously too many. Just the other day I bought a job lot of calligraphy books on eBay. It was cheaper than buying them individually, don’t judge me. You might be surprised considering I’m at art school but I didn’t do art during high school. A lot of what I learned came from books and you can do the same. So today I want to recommend 5 art books for beginners. I will say right now that these choices are very much based on my personal preferences and the type of art I like. If you’re looking for a book which will teach…
