My First Ever Solo Trip To London
At the start of the year, I took my first ever solo trip to London. I’ve had day trips to London by myself in the past but never actually stayed there on my own. I thought I would share the whole experience because it was something totally new to me. In the end, I really enjoyed this experience and I’m glad I did it. MY FIRST SOLO TRIP TO LONDON I’ve mentioned in past blog posts that I’ve really been pushing myself to go out and experience new things even if it means I have to do that on my own. I’m quite an anxious person so going out for…

Visiting Dippy At The Kelvingrove Museum
Dippy the Dinosaur is a plaster cast model of a Diplodocus carnegii. For over one hundred years it stood in the entrance hall of the Natural History Museum in London. But recently the powers that be in the museum decided Dippy had to be replaced. As part of this process, Dippy then went on a three-year farewell tour of various museums around the United Kingdom. I like many of you I’m sure, have fond memories of visiting Dippy in London. When I found out it would be travelling to the Kelvingrove museum in Glasgow I just had to go along and see it for myself one last time. DIPPY THE…

Visiting London Graphics Centre | Art Supply Haul
I was in London over the summer and while there I visited the London Graphics Centre. This is one of my all-time favourite art shops. So I wanted to share more about it and also what I bought while I was there. ABOUT LONDON GRAPHICS London Graphics Centre is just a few minutes walk away from Covent Garden tube station. It’s actually on the same corner as the stage door for the Cambridge Theatre. So if you want to meet the actors in Matilda and buy art supplies at the same time this is the place to go. The actual store is huge and split over two levels. The bottom…

A Back-To-School Muji Haul
I was down in London a few months ago. And while there I decided to pop into Muji to do a little back-to-school shopping. Now I am doing an art course at university so I have no idea what my classes will be. But I thought I would buy a few things anyway. So here is a little Muji haul. A BACK-TO-SCHOOL MUJI HAUL I started off by picking up a few notebooks. The lined A5 notebooks are great. But I also got an A5 dot-grid notebook because I thought it would be useful as a bullet journal. I didn’t want to buy too many notebooks as I don’t think…

Urban Sketching in London
While I was in London in June I thought I would try my hand at urban sketching. This is a relatively new art style (at least it is to me), where you draw while on location. A big part of urban sketching is that the drawing doesn’t have to look true to life, it’s almost like the impressionist movement in that you get the idea without doing a whole finished painting. KING’S CROSS STATION I love the roof in King’s Cross and that was the thing I wanted to be the focus of this sketch. Because the beams are white I drew this on grey sugar paper and painted over…
