7 Creative Hobbies You Need To Try

I am a designer and as such, I have many creative hobbies. I love having these hobbies because it allows me to be creative without worrying about deadlines or trying to please specific people. But having creative hobbies has also helped me with my design work. So today I wanted to do something a little different and share some creative hobbies you can try. I’ve tried to select a broad range of hobbies in terms of cost and the skill you need to get started. I think especially while lockdown continues, and the fact this pandemic could be around for a good while yet, it’s a good idea to have…

My Game of Thrones Tour of Belfast

Today I thought I would share my recent trip to Belfast. I love Belfast and it has been a good few years since I was last there. Since my last trip, Belfast and Northern Ireland as a whole have become a popular place to visit for Game of Thrones fans.  I have to admit I’m not a massive Game of Thrones fan. I’ve read 4 of the books and stopped watching the TV show somewhere around season 5. Over the last few months, several different Game of Thrones related exhibits have appeared around Belfast as a way to celebrate season 8.   I didn’t travel to Belfast to visit all the…

Experimenting With Cyanotype At Art School

Over the last few years, I’ve taken on all sorts of different design projects. Through this, I’ve learned new techniques like screen printing, video production and animation. Ever since I bought my first SLR camera I’ve wanted to try film photography. In the past year at university, I’ve been able to try out film cameras and even process my own film. From this, I’ve come across what I think is the most interesting photographic technique: cyanotype. Before starting art school cyanotype was something I had never really come across. I vaguely knew it had something to do with technical drawings but not much more. It’s surprising to me that in…

Photography & Essay Writing | Art School Diary #10

It’s been another quiet week. My CFS has still been giving me problems so I’ve spent most of my time resting and trying to catch up with sketchbook work. Fortunately, I’ve managed to get a letter from my doctor and an appointment with disability services. I don’t know if there is much my uni can do to help, but at least I won’t get in bother for missing class. This week I have been trying out photography and learning about the darkroom process. As well as doing more work for my current project and context module. PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP One of the most exciting things to happen this week was an…

Chronic Illness & Coursework | Art School Diary #4

This week I became what I would describe as a proper university student. That was because instead of doing coursework I choose to play the Playstation for two days. I did have what I would consider a good reason for doing this. But if I’m honest I would still rather be playing the Playstation than writing this. CHRONIC ILLNESS PROBLEMS On Monday my Chronic Fatigue got pretty bad, pretty quick. I was fine over lunch but by 3 o’clock I had no energy and decided to just go home. It’s annoying because there wasn’t really a reason for my CFS getting bad. The week before had been pretty stressful but…
