Visiting Dippy At The Kelvingrove Museum
Dippy the Dinosaur is a plaster cast model of a Diplodocus carnegii. For over one hundred years it stood in the entrance hall of the Natural History Museum in London. But recently the powers that be in the museum decided Dippy had to be replaced. As part of this process, Dippy then went on a three-year farewell tour of various museums around the United Kingdom. I like many of you I’m sure, have fond memories of visiting Dippy in London. When I found out it would be travelling to the Kelvingrove museum in Glasgow I just had to go along and see it for myself one last time. DIPPY THE…

Visiting The 2018 DJCAD Degree Show
A few weeks ago I took a trip up to Dundee to visit the Duncan of Jordanstone degree show. This is an event put on by the art school every year which showcases the work of fourth-year students. I’ve been to the DJCAD Degree Show a number of times in recent years and I’m always really impressed by the work on display. I could quite easily have spent an entire day at the show, unfortunately, I didn’t plan in advance and only had two hours for a very quick visit. GRAPHIC DESIGN @ DJCAD DEGREE SHOW Some may think I’m strange for saying this, considering I’m a graphic design student.…

A Winter’s Afternoon In Glasgow
I had a really nice afternoon in Glasgow the other day. I went to the cinema with a friend before trying out a new Asian place for lunch. Then checked out the Christmas Market at George Square. Here is what I got up to. I was a 90s kid and as such grew up during the time where (in my opinion) the best Disney movies were released. Seriously from 1990 to 2000 Disney Animation made 12 movies including Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan and The Emperors New Groove. The problem with that being when I think of Disney…

Edinburgh Book Festival: Day 3
My final day at the book festival was spent on my own (which was actually really nice since I don’t get out much). The plan for this day was have another look around the bookshop and see Patrick Ness talk about his new book The Rest of Us Just Live Here. BOOK HAUL I only planned on buying one book this day but I did spend a good hour looking around the shop for books I might find interesting. I ended up adding another 30 books to my TBR (I’m pretty sure you can hear my TBR list cry if you listen closely). Since one bookshop was not enough I…

Edinburgh Book Festival: Day 1
The Edinburgh Book Festival took place this year from the 16th to the 31st of August. I got to spend 3 days at the festival, I would have gone more but the talks were expensive and the authors I wanted to see were on late at night which made it almost impossible to get home. This week I have a series of posts on what I did at the festival and on Sunday I have an embarrassingly large book haul. It has actually gotten to the point where I can’t go into a bookshop without buying something. My first day in Edinburgh was actually the first day of the book…
