A Beginner’s Guide To Keeping An Art Journal

Art journalling can be a fantastic form of creative expression. Art journals tend to take the form of part-written and part-visual journal. You could think of the bullet journal as a sort of art journal; the more visual ones at least. But others choose to have a separate art journal. I love using a sketchbook, it’s an integral part of my creative process where I can save my thoughts and ideas and work on my skills. Though I use this art journal as part of my process, you don’t need to be a professional artist to have an art journal. You don’t even need to be good at art. You’ll…

I Tried Using A Sketchbook As A Bullet Journal

Previously I’ve written about how you don’t need a special notebook for bullet journaling. In one example I’ve shown how it is possible to bullet journal in a lined notebook. Recently I’ve noticed that university has changed the way I use sketchbooks to document my thought process. So this made me wonder something. Is it possible to use a sketchbook as a bullet journal? MD Paper A5 Notebook Review

For a long time, the Leuchtturm1917 was my favourite A5 notebook. I even wrote a blog post about how it was the best A5 notebook you could buy. I was browsing a few stationery shops online when I came across the MD Paper notebook. At the time I was looking for a new notebook and thought…

The Lives Of Others | Art School Diary #3

I’ve had a bit of a down week, as you will be able to see. A few stressful life events have meant I got anxious about uni. Which in turn made me question if I really should be doing what I am. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. I’ve been joining a few design-related groups and getting inducted into various workshops and I found out I might be going to Amsterdam. THE LIVES OF OTHERS The first project at university was all about creating a film poster. Now, this is something I’ve done a number of times before. But I don’t get to choose the film this time. Which…

A Review Of My Art & Design Work From 2018

Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen a number of artists look back at the work they did in 2018. I might be running a little late but I think my art massively improved during 2018. Between working on a portfolio to use for art school and trying out new techniques like screen printing and cyanotype. I created a huge amount of work in 2018 which I’m really proud of. So today I thought I would share some of my art & design work from the last year. MY ART & DESIGN WORK FROM 2018 ABSTRACT ART Throughout 2018 I spent time working with texture and mark making. Creating pieces…
