Designing A Series Of Ridley Scott Posters

Today I thought I would share one of the more recent design projects that I’ve worked on. For this particular project I created a series of posters advertising films directed by Ridley Scott. I’ve written a number of these design posts in the past but haven’t shared anything that I’ve done over the last three years. It’s a little strange looking back on this specific project, out of everything I’ve done recently this is what I’m most proud of. But also I see a number of things which could have been done better. DESIGNING A SERIES OF RIDLEY SCOTT POSTERS RESEARCH This project was originally a D&AD brief so if…

Building A Design Portfolio With Briefbox

Today I want to talk a little bit about Briefbox. This is a website I discovered about a year ago offering project briefs for designers to work on. You don’t get anything for doing them, but they are good to do in spare time or if you want to build your design skills. I’ve actually recommended this site to a few of my classmates as a way to continue building their portfolio. ABOUT BRIEFBOX Briefbox is a website started by a group of designers. It offers design and illustration briefs which can help designers work on their skills and build a portfolio. The real advantage of using Briefbox is that…

A Review Of My Art & Design Work From 2018

Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen a number of artists look back at the work they did in 2018. I might be running a little late but I think my art massively improved during 2018. Between working on a portfolio to use for art school and trying out new techniques like screen printing and cyanotype. I created a huge amount of work in 2018 which I’m really proud of. So today I thought I would share some of my art & design work from the last year. MY ART & DESIGN WORK FROM 2018 ABSTRACT ART Throughout 2018 I spent time working with texture and mark making. Creating pieces…

Sticks + Ink | Get Painting Workshop

Here is something you probably don’t know about me. I love creating textures. And turning it into art. Creating texture is an essential part of my design process. If you’ve seen some of my work like my David Bowie book you probably already know that texture plays a huge part in that design. So when I saw the new Get Painting 5 day workshop from Sticks + Ink I knew I had to try it out. Today I’m going to share my process from every day of the workshop. GET PAINTING 5 DAY WORKSHOP DAY ONE Day one of Get Painting was all about buying supplies. I was quite fortunate…
