Papergang Subscription | February Unboxing
I don’t usually sign up for monthly subscription boxes. I never think the price is worth what you get (this is especially true for book subscriptions), but a few weeks ago I decided to try signing up for the Papergang box since I’m a total sucker for stationery and nice paper things. Papergang is run by OhhDeer.com, this is an online shop that sells lots of stationery things and cards ect. Most of the items you get in the Papergang box are things you can actually buy individually on the OhhDeer website. However the box is £9.95 a month so buying everything individually works out to be more expensive. This…

Lazarus by David Bowie and Enda Walsh
Last December I went to see Lazarus which was the musical written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh. This musical is a sort of continuation of The Man Who Fell To Earth. If you have time go look at how Bowie was inspired by his previous songs to create something new. It’s so cool to see Space Oddity turn into Ashes to Ashes. Major Tom then appears again in the Blackstar music video where he has died on the moon and all that is left is a skeleton in a space suit. It might be a little depressing but it’s also really cool to see the progression. THE MAN WHO FELL…

My Thoughts On Sherlock Season 4
Here are my collected thoughts on Sherlock season 4. A note on how this post works: I wrote a little bit after each episode where I talked about my feelings on the episode and speculations for the next. I’ve added dates in so you can see when I wrote them, this is mostly because some stuff turned out to be wrong. Then at the end there is a little summary of how I felt about the season as a whole. Even though I shouldn’t really need to mention this, it will contain spoilers for all three episodes. THE SIX THATCHERS Okay my initial impression of this episode was that it’s a bit…

Arrival: A New First Contact?
My one problem with Star Trek is that the aliens have human ideals. The Vulcans claim to be above emotion (but they’re not), the Kazon think men are better than women. Pretty much every alien species has two arms and two legs and the only real difference being a funny shaped forehead. There is a reason for that, Star Trek took our modern ideals (at least from the time it was made) and placed them far into the future. Arrival isn’t like this at all. You could also argue that the forehead of the week thing came about because Star Trek being a TV show needed to be made quickly…

The Martian: A Movie Review
So I went to see The Martian at the weekend and I need to talk about it because it was fantastic and a few tweets fangirling about it isn’t enough. However I have never reviewed a movie before and there is a good chance this post could turn into the disjointed ramblings of a person who has spent far too many hours reading a book about a guy stuck on Mars. SPOILERS FOR THE MARTIAN I’m also going to put all of the spoilers warnings on this post. But really, if you haven’t read The Martian yet what the heck have you been doing with your life? First of all, they…
